US Handcycling Accepting Proposals for 2010 Race Series
Friday, 30 October 2009 00:00
US Handcycling is now accepting proposals from cycling event promoters for inclusion in the 2010 U.S. Handcycling Series. 2010 marks the 11th anniversary of the series that puts athletes with and without disabilities together at some of the biggest races on the USA Cycling calendar.
The series will include ~ 15 events total, and will take place nationwide. US Handcycling will select five events as premier races, and those events will be eligible for additional support from US Handcycling.
"The series has always been successful, but is gaining real momentum thanks to expanded partnerships with US Paralympics, USA Cycling, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America" says Executive Director, Ian Lawless.
Although the series will likely include many traditional events, you can expect to see some new additions, according to Lawless: "Handcycling has gained a lot of exposure in new areas recently, and we have an interest from a couple of new events, that will help breathe some new life in to the calendear!" Promoters who are interested should submit a proposal through the US Handcycling website, via the online submission system. Hard copy, faxed, emailed, or snail mail proposals will not be considered.
All proposals must be submitted by Friday, November 20, 2009.
Proposals may be submitted by any organization, including event promoters, local organizing committees such as city government or CVB, racing club, disabled sports organization, or other entity that is organizing the entire event or the handcycling portion of a larger event. For questions about submimtting a proposal, please call Ian Lawless at 303.459.4159 or email him.
