The final race in the 2008 U.S. Handcycling Series is rapidly approaching, August 23 - 24 in Indianapolis at the Indiana Stage Race.
It's not too late to sign up for the late summer action at this great event! Race promoters have partnered with the Rehab Hospital of Indiana to create the handcycle division , and it has steadily grown each year. Preliminary numbers indicate this year's event is approaching 30 participants.

It's less than 3 weeks away. With a record number of handcyclists already registered (20 so far with rumors of an additional 3-5 more) the Indiana Stage Race in Indianapolis seems to be the place to be on August 23 and 24. It's actually an ominium with a road course (45 minute race), 5 mile time trial, and a crit(50 minute race). See attached race flyer for schedule and more details on the courses.
We will have 4 divisions: Men's longseat, Men's kneeseat, Mixed Quad, and Women's. For each category we will be awarding:
$200 to first place
$150 to second
$75 to third
$50 to fourth.
There will be a $25 bonus awarded to any indiviual race winner if you do not win the overall race, ie if someone wins the crit, but another person wins the overall, the crit winner will get a $25 bonus.
Right now the Men's longseat and kneeseat are the most heavily populated. If there are not enough participants in all the categories to give out all the prize money, we will redistribute to these categories and award prize money to 5th place, etc.
We still have 1 $150 stipend left. So if you are the next to register, it's yours. Just a reminder that if you were previously reserved a stipend, but have not yet registered, the stipend is no longer reserved for you, but can become yours again once you register.
