Last weekend's Colorado Off-road Recovery Project was a huge success.
The event, which was the first of its kind held in the Denver Metro area, was a collaboration between U.S. Handcycling, Craig Hospital, the Colorado Handcycling Club, and Adaptive Sports Center of Crested Butte.
29 athletes participated, including many with new injuries. The day included a 4-wheel, gravity-driven option, as well as a cross-country "One Off" option. Both were a great success, and the gentle terrain of Flying J Ranch park in Conifer made a good introduction to the sport for athletes (most) who had never tried it before.
In the cross country portion, participants rode One Off Handcycles on a short course, or a long course. Some big names showed up for the long course (times on the way soon) and were impressed to find single track so close to downtown Denver. Seth Arseneau, Jake O'Connor, Drew Wills, Monica Bascio, Matt Updike, Vijay Viswanathan, Matt Feeney, and Todd Nipp all did the long course....and finished in that order, respectively.
For a first year event, it was a tremendous success...and don't forget to check out these great photos:
