Performance Plan and WC Team Selection |
U.S. Paralympics has announced the 2006 Performance Plan for Cycling. The plan outlines three levels of membership on the U.S. Team: Elite, National, and Emerging. The plan also outlines per-kilometer standards for each classification. After meeting with U.S. Paralympics, the USHF learned that the team headed to the IPC World Championships in Switzerland this coming September will be selected based on results from the July 8 National TT Championship in 7 Springs, PA.
The number of slots allocated for U.S. handcyclists at the 2006 World Championships has not yet been announced. The selection process is pretty straightforward: Athletes with the best per-k time in the classes listed below will be named to the team…how many athletes depends on the number of slots.
The per-k standards are listed below. Note that HCB Women are included for the first time. For more details, you can read the performance plan on the USP website.
