Time Trial Competition Underway!

The USHF — as part of the 2006 American Handcycle Series — is experimenting with a new form a competition. A “race series within a race series” according to USHF Director, Ian Lawless, the AHS Time Trial competition puts every athlete — regardless of sex or class — against one another in the “race of truth.”

Seth Arseneau The idea is to pit every athlete against the respective standard for their classification. The percentage they finish in-front-of or behind the per-kilometer standard is directly translated in to points. “It’s just a great way to see who is really fit and fast…there’s no question…it doesn’t matter how many in your classification or not…you’re racing EVERYONE!” said Lawless.

There are just a few time trials as part of the compeition, including the RMO, the TT at the Tour de Nez, the Eagle River TT at the Sadler’s Ultra Challenge, and the Nat’l Championship TT in Pennsylvania on July 12th. Each athlete will only use their highest score, the events won’t be combined. Thus, an individuals fastest TT will be the one used.

The current ranking list CAN BE FOUND HERE. No surprise — Alejandro Albor is in the lead. Seth Arseneau sits comfortably in 2nd for now, but things could change quickly with Monica Bascio and Oscar Sanchez tied for 3rd and Matt Updike right behind! Stay tuned….
