Coaching and Development Program Through our network of knowledgeable, certified coaching programs, U.S. Handcycling offers coaching resources fo disabled cyclists. Through partnerships with grassroots adaptive sports programs, U.S. Paralympics, and USA Cycling, this training outlet gives athletes the opportunity to enter a comprehensive system that enables them to achieve their cycling goals. In addition, coaching programs help elite team coaches identify talent, and win more medals at international competitions. Competition U.S. Handcycling organizes an annual series of national-level events known as the American Handcycle Series. The series includes prominent cycling races throughout the country that feature handcycling as a major component. Incredibly popular among participants, fans, sponsors, and spectators alike, the series is an important tool that promotes awareness and integration in the cycling community. For 2007, the USHF will be focusing on advocacy for handcyclists who wish to compete in cycling events at the local and regional level. This new program is a vital component in the development of a "top to bottom" system for disabled cycling in the United States. International Cycling The USHF regularly works wtih international organizations, including the Union Cycliste International (UCI), the newly-formed, World Handcycling Federation (WHF), the European Handcycling Federation (EHF), and many other organizations having to do with cycling. Through a long-standing partnership with Challenge Alaska, the USHF co-manages an international event, the Sadler's Ultra Challenge...an event with a 22 year history that is known as "The Tour de France of Handcycling."
